Heather L.

Yardley, PhD, NBH-WHC

(Co-Founder & Managing Partner)

Dr. Heather Yardley is a clinical psychologist with extensive experience in behavioral health, specializing in evidence-based approaches to well-being, resilience, and organizational performance. She currently holds a senior leadership position where she oversees training programs for emerging professionals and trainees.

 

Throughout her career, she has been recognized with multiple awards for excellence in innovation, supervision, and leadership. She has participated in national leadership programs and has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications in her field. Dr. Yardley is an active member of several professional organizations dedicated to advancing psychological science and practice.

 

She is completing her MBA in May 2027, adding business strategy to her clinical and leadership expertise. This unique combination of psychology, leadership, and business acumen allows her to help organizations develop better leaders and employees through evidence-based coaching.

 

She co-founded Wellness by the Yard with the belief that wellness and leadership can be done better—more accessibly, more practically, and more genuinely supportively. She is dedicated to making high-quality, evidence-informed wellness and leadership development attainable for individuals and organizations alike.

Jonathan A.

Yardley, DVM NBH-WHC

(Co-Founder & Managing Partner)

Dr. Jonathan Yardley is a veterinarian and board-certified health and wellness coach with extensive experience in clinical practice and organizational wellness. Throughout his career, he has developed a strong focus on wellness, culture, and learning in professional environments.

 

He has led wellness initiatives, presented at numerous conferences, and served as a content expert for professional examinations. His interest in leadership and organizational development led him to pursue advanced business training, blending clinical experience with strategic insight.

 

He is completing his MBA in May 2027, strengthening his ability to help organizations align employee well-being with business strategy. Together with Dr. Heather Yardley, they bring over 40 years of combined experience in leadership, clinical practice, and organizational development.

This unique combination of clinical expertise, wellness coaching, and business acumen inspired him to co-found Wellness by the Yard—with the goal of making evidence-informed wellness and leadership development accessible, practical, and impactful for professionals across industries.

Our Story

Wellness by the Yard was founded by Dr. Heather Yardley (PhD psychologist) and Dr. Jonathan Yardley (DVM veterinarian)—a husband-and-wife team who recognized a critical gap in the professional world. Both witnessed firsthand how burnout, compassion fatigue, and toxic workplace cultures were driving talented people away from their chosen fields.

They realized that most wellness programs were either too generic or impractical for busy work environments. So they created something different: evidence-based consulting that combines behavioral science, organizational insight, and business strategy. Their goal? To make wellness accessible, practical, and truly effective for professionals in every industry.

Today, they lead a team of specialists who work with organizations across the country—helping leaders build healthier teams, reduce turnover, and create workplaces where both employees and businesses can thrive.
